Publisher to PDF/A for archival retention
PDF/A is designed for long-term retention. If your goal is archive stability or compliance, a PDF/A workflow is often preferable to a standard PDF workflow.
The PMT trial includes 5 PDF and 5 PDF/A conversions with independent counters. Pro and Portable include unlimited PDF/A conversion. Base includes unlimited PDF and retains only unused PDF/A trial conversions; buying Base does not add PDF/A conversions.
That keeps the distinction clear: Base is for dependable everyday PDF conversion, while Pro covers long-term archival output.
- Choose PDF/A when retention requirements matter.
- Use standard PDF for everyday sharing and printing.
- PMT Pro and Portable include unlimited PDF/A conversion.
Prepare and verify your archive
Microsoft Publisher must be installed and working on the Windows PC performing the conversion. Keep a copy of the original .PUB files before starting.
- Test representative documents with the free trial.
- Choose an output folder and a rule for existing PDFs.
- After conversion, check layout, fonts, images and any items flagged in the report.
- Keep the originals and verified output in your normal backup routine.
Read the requirements and conversion FAQ and compare Base, Pro and Portable licences for your volume and output format.
PDF/A does not replace a backup or retention policy. If your organization requires a specific PDF/A conformance level, validate the resulting files against its requirements. For everyday sharing, see the standard PDF guide.
